Effective date: March 30, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the Verifa identity verification platform ("Service") operated by Verifa ("we," "us," or "our"). This AUP is incorporated into and supplements our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP.

1. Permitted Uses

The Service is designed and intended for the following lawful purposes:

  • Identity verification: confirming the identity of individuals as part of onboarding, account access, or transaction authorization
  • KYC/AML compliance: satisfying Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering regulatory requirements
  • Fraud prevention: detecting and preventing identity fraud, synthetic identities, and unauthorized account access
  • Age verification: confirming that individuals meet minimum age requirements for age-restricted products or services

All use of the Service must comply with applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where you and your applicants operate.

2. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Service for any of the following purposes:

2.1 Discriminatory Purposes

Using the Service to make employment, housing, credit, insurance, or other decisions that discriminate against individuals based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. The Service may not be used to screen individuals in a manner that violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Housing Act, or comparable laws.

2.2 Surveillance and Mass Monitoring

Using the Service to conduct surveillance, mass monitoring, or tracking of individuals without their knowledge and explicit consent. This includes using verification data to build profiles for monitoring purposes unrelated to a specific, lawful verification request.

2.3 Privacy Law Violations

Using the Service in any manner that violates applicable privacy, data protection, or biometric data laws, including but not limited to the GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, BIPA, and equivalent regulations. You are responsible for obtaining all necessary consents from applicants before initiating verification sessions.

2.4 Unauthorized Resale or Sublicensing

Reselling, sublicensing, redistributing, or providing access to the Service to third parties without prior written authorization from Verifa. This includes white-labeling the Service or offering it as part of a competing identity verification product.

2.5 Security Circumvention

Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code from the Service. Attempting to bypass, disable, or circumvent any security measures, authentication mechanisms, rate limits, or access controls implemented by Verifa.

2.6 Synthetic or Fake Identity Testing

Using synthetic identities, fabricated documents, or other fraudulent materials to test production systems. All testing must be conducted in the designated sandbox environment using the test credentials and sample data provided by Verifa.

2.7 Harassment and Abuse

Using the Service or any data obtained through it to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or otherwise harm any individual.

2.8 Child Exploitation

Using the Service in connection with any form of child exploitation, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any activity that endangers or harms minors.

2.9 Sanctions and Export Violations

Using the Service in violation of any applicable sanctions, embargoes, or export control laws, including those administered by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), or equivalent authorities in other jurisdictions.

3. Prohibited Industries

The following industries may not use the Service unless specifically approved in writing by Verifa:

  • Illegal gambling: platforms that operate gambling services without required licenses or in jurisdictions where such activity is prohibited
  • Adult content platforms: websites or applications whose primary purpose is the distribution of pornographic or sexually explicit material
  • Weapons trafficking: businesses engaged in the illegal sale, distribution, or trafficking of firearms, explosives, or other weapons
  • Cryptocurrency mixing and tumbling services: services designed to obscure the origin, destination, or ownership of cryptocurrency transactions

If you operate in one of the above industries and believe your use case qualifies for an exception, contact us at legal@withverifa.com before creating an account.

4. Volume and Rate Limit Compliance

Your use of the Service is subject to the volume limits and API rate limits associated with your plan. You agree to:

  • Not exceed the rate limits or quotas applicable to your plan
  • Not use automated tools, scripts, or other methods to circumvent rate limiting mechanisms
  • Not create multiple accounts to artificially increase your quota or avoid usage limits
  • Contact Verifa to discuss increased capacity if your legitimate use case requires higher limits

5. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of the Service that violates this AUP, please report it to us promptly. Reports can be submitted to:

Verifa — Abuse Reports

Email: abuse@withverifa.com

We take all reports seriously and will investigate in a timely manner. You may report violations anonymously.

6. Enforcement

Verifa reserves the right to enforce this AUP at its sole discretion. Enforcement actions may include:

  • Warning: for first-time or minor violations, we may issue a written warning describing the violation and required corrective action
  • Suspension: for repeated or serious violations, we may suspend your access to the Service until the violation is resolved
  • Termination: for egregious violations or failure to remedy a violation after warning or suspension, we may permanently terminate your account and access to the Service

In cases involving imminent harm, illegal activity, or threats to the security of the Service or its users, Verifa may bypass the warning and suspension stages and proceed directly to suspension or termination.
